A letter to the single Christian girl on Valentine's Day

Dear beloved,

First of all, I want to remind you that you are just that, God's beloved. He delights in you just as you are. In the middle of your messy life, when you don't have makeup on and hair done, when you get a bad grade on a test or fail to meet someone's expectations once again, God still delights in you. Before I get into the singleness, I just want to remind you that you are dearly loved by God so much more than you will ever be loved by a godly man.

Overwhelmed

99% of the time when people ask, “How are you?” I respond with an overly cheery, “I’m good! How are you?” And I get this question so many times a day. Honestly, sometimes the question kind of bothers me because usually we say this to people in passing, not expecting them to say anything but “good.” What if they said “bad?”

10 things I learned in a season of transition

1. Transition is hard, but it is so good. And trust me, I would know. The past seven months of my life have been the biggest transition period I have ever gone through in my life. I graduated high school, spent a month in Guatemala,  turned 18, moved off to college, went through heartbreak, had many exciting firsts (like jumpstarting my roommate's car by ourselves), and I am still learning how to be an independent adult.

My Unofficial Salutatorian Speech

So, I have the prestigious honor of being Buffalo Gap's Class of 2016 Salutatorian, right behind my best friend Shelby as Valedictorian, and I'm so thankful for the opportunity. Along with this privilege comes the task of giving a speech at graduation. But the thing is, if I said what I wanted to say, I probably would get kicked out of the ceremony and not be able to walk the stage since my speech comes before we get our diplomas, so I decided to say it on here.

I’m currently sitting in my last high school class EVER as I write this. It’s 2:30pm, May 26, 2016, and when the next bell rings, I am officially done with every single one of my high school classes. It still hasn’t completely hit me what this moment really means. All ll I know is that my life is about to change SO MUCH. I’ve heard it so many times recently, and now I’m sitting here waiting for it to happen.

5 Lil' Things About Love

Since it's Valentine's day, I felt inclined to do a post about love. But if you despise the holiday for its superficiality or because you don't have a guy or gal, don't stop reading now because I'm talking about a love that goes much deeper than any kind of earthly love. Obviously, I'm not an expert on love considering I have only been around for 17 years and don't have a boyfriend or husband, but I do have my God, whose love goes so much deeper.

The Not-So-Super Side of the Superbowl

I can barely put into words what I want to write today. My heart is breaking for the people who are being sex trafficked. If you've been keeping up with my blog for a while, you know that I have a dream and passion to help end sex-trafficking, and it breaks my heart when I hear about more and more cases of it. This morning, I learned that the Superbowl is the single largest sex-trafficking incident in the United States. AND, there is sex trafficking occurring in every zip code in the country.
